    Application of resilience assessment grid in production of aircraft components

    The paper evaluates an application of the resilience measuring tool Resilience Assessment Grid (RAG) in the aircraft components production. For the purpose of the evaluation a specific RAG model for a change process is created. The paper contains a description of change process and the approval process of the engineering change proposal. Paper describes BPMN and FRAM models created to support model RAG and which both clarify relations among the functions inside the management of change process. The paper presents a possible approach for the Resilience Assessment Grid model creation. The outcome is a creation of a change process profile in a company producing aircraft components in which change process and approval of the engineering proposed change is managed, and a recording of a current state of four  process potentials that can be used by the company management to develop wider safety awareness among employees

    Abstract Modern theory of safety deals with systemic approach to safety, formalized in form of several systemic prediction models or methods such as FRAM (Functional Resonance Analysis Method) or STAMP (System-Theoretic Accident Model and Processes). The theory of each approach emphasizes different viewpoints to be considered in approaching various industrial safety issues. This paper focuses on FRAM and its functional viewpoint for modern complex sociotechnical systems. The methodology in this paper is based on the utilization of foundational ontologies to conceptualize the core ideas of FRAM, with the focus on the concept of functions as used in theory. The outcomes of the case study in the aviation domain provide for what needs to be determined to properly model functions in FRAM and they allow for better utilization of the method in real-case applications. The results also confirm some previous research, suggesting that modern systemic approach to safety is theoretically grounded on common - or at least complementary - tenets, to be prospectively integrated by means of ontology engineering

    This paper aims to provide brief overview of aviation safety development focusing on modern trends represented by implementation of Safety Key Performance Indicators. Even though aviation is perceived as safe means of transport, it is still struggling with its complexity given by long-term growth and robustness which it has reached today. Thus nowadays safety issues are much more complex and harder to handle than ever before. We are more and more concerned about organizational factors and control mechanisms which have potential to further increase level of aviation safety. Within this paper we will not only introduce the concept of Key Performance Indicators in area of aviation safety as an efficient control mechanism, but also analyse available legislation and documentation. Finally we will propose complex set of indicators which could be applied to Czech Air Navigation Service Provider.</span

    Air transport development brings an increased focus on the safety of piloting. The safety conditions can be assessed by mental workload. Psychic discomfort or excessive stress on pilots can negatively influence the course of flights. Therefore it appears convenient to monitor such parameters, which represent the mental wellbeing, or discomfort of a pilot. Since physiological measurements can provide a good information about mental workload or stress, this work primarily focuses on the observation of the change in heart rate, as it is an indicator of stress during the training of pilots, using the designed modular telemetry system. Another aim of this study is to evaluate the influence of a change in the avionic data visualization. This can have an unfavorable effect on the piloting of an airplane. This work, based on the evaluation of heart rate shows, that the switch from analog visualization to glass cockpit creates increased levels of stress in pilots, which was proved for all examined subjects except one. Significant level of correlation in the heart beat rate change in subjects in the course of training was also discovered
